Will Smith, Kevin Hart to Star in ‘Planes, Trains & Automobiles’ RemakeWill Smith and Kevin Hart will star in and produce a remake of the 1987 road comedy “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” for Paramount Pictures.The original “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” was directed by John Hughes, and starred Steve Martin and the late John Candy as a pair of mismatched businessmen trying to get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving in the face of a variety of travel disasters. The remake will be a modern update of the original, with Smith and Hart playing characters who are forced to team up to tackle travel obstacles to get home to their loved ones.Hart’s HartBeat Productions and Smith’s Westbrook Studios are developing the remake. Aeysha Carr (“Brooklyn 99”) is set to pen the screenplay, marking her feature writing debut. Both good and bad business news for GreenvilleThere is a combination of both good and bad news to report about the Greenville business scene.On the plus side, the city of Greenville is enjoying a robust increase in sales tax rebate revenue generated from local merchants and a downtown supermarket that closed last year is getting close to reopening.On the other hand, two major department stores that are part of the Promenade Shopping Center are in their final days. A rededication of a percentage of the sales tax revenue goes toward the 4A economic development corporation.• A former grocery store at 2601 King St. is seeing new life, as crews have been renovating the 17,000-square-foot building, most recently the home of Migalito’s Supermercado until it closed in September 2017.Roberto Meza, who originally opened the Supermercado in 2006, has returned to reopen it as the Fresco Supermarket.• The J.C. Penney store in Greenville is scheduled to close its doors this summer, according to an announcement in June from the company’s corporate office. ‘FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR’ IS REPORTEDLY GETTING A REBOOT!It’s coming.The hit show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is reportedly getting a “dramatic” reboot.The reboot will be titled, Bel-Air and is described as “a dramatic take on the former NBC comedy that catapulted Smith to stardom after he spent six seasons starring as the street-smart kid who moved from Philly to the upper-class neighborhood.”Bel-Air has reportedly been in the works for more than a year after the four-minute clip went viral back March of 2019 and caught Will Smith’s attention.According to The Hollywood Reporter the reboot based on Morgan Cooper’s viral clip is “currently being shopped” streamers and is a co-production between Smith’s Westbrook Studios and original producers Universal TV. It was an incident of pure criminality.” Looting continues in downtown Chicago as of 5:45am. These people are coming out of the Block 37 mall on Randolph west of State Street. Looting has been going on all over downtown and the Magnificent Mile since around midnight. Police are all over the place. On Monday morning, store owners and employees were left to pick up the pieces—sweeping up glass and surveying empty storefronts. Juelz Santana is now a free man.The Dipset rapper was released from prison Wednesday, following a week-long delay. Santana's wife, Kimbella, confirmed the big news minutes before he walked out of the Petersburg Medium Federal Correctional Institution in Hopewell, Virginia."Juelz was supposed to get released last Tuesday but some shit happened," she said in a video posted to Santana's Instagram page. "But we're outside of the prison now and he's gonna be released any minute. And I'll leave it all up to him when he gets out. Stay tuned!" Santana received a 27-month prison sentence in late 2018 for gun- and drug-related charges. The now-38-year-old rapper fled Newark Liberty International Airport in March of that year after TSA agents discovered a loaded handgun and eight oxycodone pills inside his carry-on.
