The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index opened higher on Tuesday, extending previous session’s gains with energy shares among the best performers as oil prices rose on hopes that demand will start to improve as some countries across the globe began to ease lockdown restrictions. Quebec, the worst-affected province in Canada, started gradually reopening its economy on Monday allowing to resume operations to stores with an outside entrance for customers. Meanwhile, the planned reopening in Montreal, the most populous city in the province of Quebec, was delayed to May 18 from May 11 as there are few hospital beds to cope with a possible surge in new cases.
