India moved a notch higher on the Moody’s list after a gap of 13 years. US-based International rating agency rated Indian government bond as ‘baa2’ ahead of its earlier rating of ‘baa3’. ‘Baa2’ corresponds to moderate credit risk while ‘baa3’ has higher risk levels. The agency cited and lauded demonetisation and GST as primary reasons for the upgrade with transparency in fiscal administration along with DBT and Aadhaar as other reasons. Taking credit for the lift Finance minister Arun Jaitley said it will help increase money flow in the economy. The finance minister also used the occasion to term demonetisation and GST as globally recognized and appreciated moves that he said will not hold back the economy.

Australia's Ashes squad for the first two Tests announced on Friday had a couple of surprise inclusions as wicket-keeper Tim Paine and opening batsman Cameron Bancroft were named among the 13 selected. Paine is set to don the baggy green after a seven-year gap, meanwhile Bancroft replaced out of form opener Matt Renshaw.

The controversy surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati continues, with protests and havans being held in several towns and cities across the country. The historic Chittorgarh Fort, which houses the palace of Padmavati, remained shut today as protesters gathered outside it in large numbers. The firing of a gun at the protests by unnamed persons has been reported.

It was a bad day in the office for the star Indian shuttlers as Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy crashed out of the China Open after losing their respective second round matches in Shanghai on Thursday.
Prannoy — who recently acquired his highest ever BWF ranking of 11 — lost to China's Cheuk Yiu Lee who is ranked 53 in the world. Lee thumped Prannoy in straight games and won the match 21-19, 21-17 in just 42 minutes to progress.
While as for Saina, she lost to World Number 4 Akane Yamaguchi in straight games. The Japanese entered the round three of competition after recording a 21-18, 21-11 win over Saina.

While addressing a press conference on the ongoing Padmavati row, Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi has threatened to chop off actor Deepika Padukone's nose if she continues to defend the film. He also raised questions on Padmavati's funding and alleged that the fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim has funded the film. Kalvi also added that while they have already written to the censor board, nif the need be, the Karni Sena members can die fighting against the film. Meanwhile, UP government wrote to the Union Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting requesting them to ensure that the prospects of public outrage and unrest over film are considered before certification of the magnum opus.

Electronics major Samsung has promoted two of its India executives -- Asim Warsi and Dipesh Shah -- to global roles. Warsi, who is the head of Samsung India's mobile division, has been promoted to Global Vice President, while Dipesh Shah (Samsung R&D Institute Managing Director) has been named Global Senior Vice President. The elevations are in recognition of Samsung India's strong performance during 2017 and the role played by the two executives.

Lamborghini gave Pope Francis a personalised white supercar on Wednesday, but he put it up for auction to raise money for charity rather than give up his trademark popemobile. The model features gold stripes and gold-rimmed wing mirrors in homage to the pope's gold-tipped stole.
The money raised will go to four charitable projects, including one aimed at rebuilding the homes and churches of persecuted Christians in the Nineveh Plains in Iraq.

After the two films- S Durga and Nude- were left out from the 48th IFFI, director Sujoy Ghosh resigned as jury head of the Indian Panorama section without giving any reason. On Wednesday morning, film editor and a senior jury member, Apurva Asrani too stepped down from his post. But another member, filmmaker Rahul Rawail, has said he was kept in the loop by the Information and Broadcasting ministry. The I&B Ministry on November 9 had listed 26 feature and 16 non-feature films for the Indian Panorama section of IFFI, leaving out the said films which were recommended by the jury. All reports suggest that the switch was made at the ministry-level without consulting the jury.

Ghosh, who has directed films like Kahaani and Ahalya, confirmed the news of his resignation to News18 but refused to say anything more. The final list released by the Information and Broadcasting ministry on November 9 had 26 feature and 16 non-feature films for the Indian Panorama section of IFFI, which is scheduled to be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa. Nude and S Durga were apparently recommended for Indian Panorama section by the 13-member jury headed by Ghosh but was later left out of the ministry's list.

The mHawk engine powering the scorpio has also been retuned to deliver about 20 bhp more which will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

At least 332 people were killed in Iran and Iraq when a magnitude 7.3 earthquake jolted the region on Sunday, state media in the two countries said, and rescuers were searching for dozens trapped under rubble in the mountainous area. Shahid Kapoor, who is essaying the role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the film, said that the film deserves a chance and that the makers have kept everyone's feelings and interests in mind.
