Monday Morning Markets Update - Futures are slightly lower but starting to turn ahead of the start of Earnings Season.

All in all markets have remained relatively steady this morning while treasuries have halted an eighth day rally fueled by concerns about global growth amid the spread of COVID-19 variants.

We’re seeing some fluctuation in Nasdaq this morning after a report that President Joe Biden’s taking aim at big tech by encouraging regulators to reinstate net neutrality rules.

Markets are steady moving into the new week with the dollar relatively unchanged and gold having risen for a fifth day. Ride hailing firm Didi plunged 20% in premarket after Chinese regulators ordered the removal of its platform from app stores just days after its US listings.

Oil has jumped to a six year high after a fight between Saudi Arabia and the UAE  brought an end to OPEC+ supply talks and Saudi raised the price tag per barrel. On thing to consider about all of this is that the risk of conflict escalating into a price war could hamper the global economic recovery and add to inflationary pressures. This could even become a way to strengthen the Federal Reserve’s case for tightening policy as the risk of oil at $100 a barrel is something that could make for an edgy market.

Markets are relatively unchanged while treasuries have gained this morning as traders await American employment data likely to be positive considering the advances that have been made in vaccinations. As employment improves and inflationary pressures build. The upcoming payrolls report will be seen as a gauge of how close the Fed is to tapering policy accommodation.
