Newsweek and Hospital for Special Surgery have gathered a panel of experts to discuss one of health care's most pressing topics: Is AI the cure for doctor burnout?

Burnout recently hit its peak among health care workers. Last year, nearly half of doctors reported at least one symptom of the condition, according to the American Medical Association. Physician burnout is more than an industry issue—it's a public health concern. Research links detached, fatigued doctors to major medical errors.

The issue is poised to worsen. Burnout has contributed to a post-pandemic doctor exodus, and the Association of American Medical Colleges estimates that the U.S. will be short 139,000 physicians by 2033. For America's aging population, fewer doctors means more trouble.
