The hope and rest of believers is the completed work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every true believer stands forgiven in Christ, covered in righteousness, and secure in the hope of heaven. This glorious truth, however, does not mean that even true believers are not motived by having to stand before Christ to give an account of their lives before the risen Christ. This is the truth that Paul points us to in 2 Corinthians 5:9-10.

The writer of Psalm 119 pictures the wrestling soul that knows the realities of living a righteous life in an unrighteous world, but with every resource of spiritual strength and sanctifying power that comes from God's Spirit working through the Word of God.
