Every Man A Minister | Acts 6:1-6 | 5/1/2012 by Pastor Parker Reardon
To be a Christian is to be a servant, a slave of Christ. There should be no such thing as a Christian who is not serving in the church. However, God has also established two distinct offices to oversee the leadership and ministry of the local assembly of believers: Elder and deacon. Acts 6:1-6 is a record of apostolic wisdom to meet a specific need in the early church, and it also serves as a prototype of the later developed office of deacon, mentioned primarily in 1 Tim. 3:8-11. Consider the early prototype of the later office of deacon in Acts 6:1-6 as Pastor Reardon introduces the basic concepts and background to this significant moment in the life of the church and shows how, indeed, every man a minister.
