Greenlane and Volvo Partner on Truck Charging Initiative
Greenlane Infrastructure's goal of building out public charging stations for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles will now be bolstered by Volvo Trucks North America. Through the new partnership, Greenlane is Volvo's first official Charge Point Operator on the continent. Under the Volvo Open Charge network, fleets will be able to access Greenlane's public charging solutions without needing to build out their own infrastructure. Later this month Greenlane is opening their flagship charging location in Colton, California, featuring over 40 public chargers spanning all vehicle classes. Plans are underway for further charging sites along the I-15 corridor, with upcoming sites in Long Beach, Barstow, and Baker, CA.
Anyone interested in attending the grand opening of the Colton Greenlane Center can find more information in the Upcoming Events section below.
Illinois Considers Advanced Clean Trucks Standards
Illinois could become the first state in the Midwest to adopt California's Advanced Clean Truck Standards to spur adoption of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. Adopting the Advanced Clean Truck regulation would require manufacturers to ensure 40-75% of heavy-duty vehicle sales are zero-emission by 2035, with the exact percentage dependent on vehicle type. Trisha DelloIacono, the head of policy at CALSTART, has said, "If Illinois adopts [the program], we could expect to see new truck charging stations pop up at rest stops along major freight corridors... This in turn would make it easier for fleet operators in nearby states to start adopting zero-emission trucks for regional-haul and long-haul routes."
Low-Emission Beer Delivery in the Big Apple
If you enjoy a canned or bottled beverage in New York City, there's a chance it was brought to you using alternative fuels. Not only is Manhattan Beer & Beverage Distributors the largest single-market beer distributor in the country, they're also a leader in reducing fleet emissions. They adopted their first CNG-powered truck back in 2002 and were operating over 100 CNG trucks by the mid 2010s, making them the first company in the northeast to convert its diesel trucks to CNG. In 2021, Manhattan Beer was also the first company on the East Coast to implement Volvo's heavy-duty VNR trucks into their fleet and has since adopted charging management software by bp pulse to further optimize performance. Manhattan Beer's continued success is a promising reminder that companies don't need to sacrifice sustainable operations for business growth, but rather, the two can go hand in hand.

Stellantis and IVECO Announce Collaboration in Europe
Stellantis and IVECO have announced plans to supply two all-electric light-duty vehicles for the European market starting next year. Stellantis Pro One, the dedicated business unit for commercial vehicles, will manufacture the vans across plants in Italy, Poland, and France to then be delivered to Iveco Group for distribution through established sales and service channels. The new vehicles will be modeled after the Stellantis Pro One mid-size and large van platforms and will have gross vehicle weights ranging from 2.8-3.1 tons and 3.5 to 4.2 tons. The agreement is based on a 10-year supply contract, affirming the commitment of both companies to accelerating Europe's transition to BEVs.
Range eTrailers Ace Winter Testing
Range Energy's eTrailer System has successfully completed rigorous winter testing, validating its performance, safety, and reliability regardless of the conditions. Engineers ran the platform in Northern Michigan amidst subzero temperatures and roads covered with ice and snow. The eTrailer System turns large diesel trucks into hybrid electric, utilizing a high-voltage battery, e-axle, and collection of sensors that detect the tractor's motion. The technology integrates seamlessly with existing braking and stability control systems, and the recent testing confirmed the Range platform makes driving a truck and trailer in adverse conditions feel easier and safer. Want to see for yourself? Range shared a video of testing highlights, available on youtube.
BYD Confirms 5 Minute Supercharger
From record-breaking sales to "God's Eye" technology, 2025 has been a banner year for BYD. The Chinese automaker has now confirmed a new 1,000-volt platform that can charge in minutes, making a charging session on par with a gas station refuel. The platform is reportedly capable of charging up to 249 miles of range in 5 minutes. While the "Super E-Platform" is far from being widely available, it's yet another development widening the gap between BYD and other industry giants like Tesla.
InductEV and ENC Expand Wireless Charging for Electric Buses
InductEV, a leader in the wireless charging market, has partnered with bus manufacturer ENC to give transit operators more options for transitioning their fleets. ENC will begin offering wireless inductive charging on their electric buses via InductEV's hardware, providing new and improved options for transit agencies amid other supply chain and performance issues in the industry. The inductive charging pads instantly activate when aligned with a pad placed on the vehicle's underside, delivering up to 450kW of power. The hands-free system reduces the infrastructure footprint, enhances safety, maximizes uptime, and is interoperable across all vehicle classes. With over 3 million miles driven by municipal fleets across several states, InductEV's technology is well suited for transit applications and might just be coming to a town near you soon.
Fleet Electrification Success Dependent on Infrastructure Readiness
Acquiring or upfitting vehicles is only half of the equation when it comes to electrification – well-planned charging infrastructure is essential for sustainable operations. This article by Brendan Harney, the president of Camber, operator of North America's largest fast-charging network for mission-critical fleets, outlines key considerations to ensure the fleet electrification process is handled with infrastructure considerations top of mind. To quote directly from Brendan's article, "Smart fleet managers are learning to map their vehicle deployment schedules to infrastructure readiness, not the other way around."
10 States Hit EV Goal Set in 2013
In 2013, the then-governors of California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont agreed to boost policies and public information to help spur zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales in their states. The Memorandum of Understanding set a collective target of 3.3 million ZEVs on the roads of the signatory states by 2025, which has been achieved. In Oregon, for example, there are now over 100,000 EVs registered in the state, compared to just 300 in 2013. During this time of considerable uncertainty at the federal level, it's encouraging to see states still prioritizing the adoption of clean transportation technologies for the benefit of their communities.

Orange EV Introduces 7.5-year Warranty
Electric terminal truck manufacturer Orange EV has announced a new 7.5-year/30,000 hour warranty on their batteries, powertrains, and electric components. The prolonged coverage is unmatched in the industry, where typical warranties are 1-2 years or 6,000 hours. Orange EV's class 8 trucks have been in use since 2015 across much of the US, Canada, and the Caribbean, with deliveries to more than 300 fleets and over 20 million miles of service. This experience backs up the confidence of offering such an extended warranty, increasing reliability and cost savings for fleets. The warranty is also transferrable, easing worries about resale value.
Harbinger's New IRA Risk-Free Guarantee
Medium-duty EV focused Harbinger Motors is using in-house tech to deliver trucks at diesel-like prices, and has launched the IRA Risk-Free Guarantee to keep prices as low as possible for customers. The IRA's 45W Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit gives up to $40,000 per EV for fleets, but with the ongoing uncertainty around federal funding programs, Harbinger is guaranteeing a discount similar to the tax credit. How it works: customers will receive a credit at purchase, and if the IRA tax credit stays active for 2025, they will pay Harbinger in a later second payment. If the credit is canceled, Harbinger will cancel the second payment, ensuring customers pay the discounted price no matter what. Harbinger's electric chassis is built for medium-duty applications like vans, box trucks, RVs, and emergency vehicles, and increasing cost parity can make the technology an attractive alternative to diesel for fleets.
Greenlane's Electric Charging Truck Stop and New Technology Suite

Ford Set New Sales Record in January
At least one OEM is navigating the current market with some success: Ford set two new records for EV sales last month. They sold nearly 19,000 electrified vehicles (which includes hybrids and plug-ins), a new record for January. The automaker sold over 5,600 EVs in the states, and over 3,500 of them were Mustang Mach-Es. Compared to last January, Ford saw a 21.2% increase in overall EV sales and a 173% increase in Mach-E sales. Ford reported a 35% year-over-year increase in EV sales in 2024 and has kept the momentum in 2025 despite massive political changes dominating the news. These numbers could be a result of the new Ford Power Promise, which offers free hardware and installation of a Level 2 charger at home and robust customer education and support resources.

The manufacturer sold a record 44,000 vehicles in North America last year and is hoping to further boost production capacity with a second facility in the states. This will be Isuzu's first factory without conveyors or pits in their production line, which should help employees switch between ICE and EV assembly easily.
BYD Reveals "God's Eye" Tech and Talks Solid-State Batteries
The world's largest EV producer, BYD, might be leading the pack in technology as well as sales. Last week they announced a new advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) known as "God's Eye", and it'll be accessible for even the most-affordable vehicles in their lineup. The most basic of the offering, the God's Eye C system has 12 cameras, 5 mm-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, while the more advanced A and B systems have LiDAR. It's speculated the technology will be activated in existing cars and customers won't have to pay to utilize it. Not stopping at one tech breakthrough, the CTO of BYD's battery business said they've already produced their first solid-state cells and anticipate starting "mass demonstrations" in a couple years. Theoretically, solid-state batteries would be safer and more efficient than their liquid electrolyte counterparts, but widespread production and use is still years away.

They've also changed the name from "Electric Delivery Van" to "Rivian Commercial Vehicle", signaling a broader applications beyond delivery vehicles. The vans are still not available to individuals for purchase, although businesses can purchase as few as one vehicle, starting around $80k. Rivian is expecting to start delivering orders in April, so we might be seeing more vans on the road sooner rather than later.
Revel Secures $60 Million to Build Chargers
While the current and future status of federal funding for EV initiatives remains unclear, New York State has reaffirmed its commitment to electrification by awarding $60 million to electric rideshare and infrastructure startup Revel. The funding is a loan from the New York Green Bank, the state's clean-energy investment fund, and will support building 267 charging stalls across nine new sites. The New York Governor's office says 178 of the stalls should be active within the next 12 months, with the first sites near LaGuardia Airport, JFK Airport, and an impressive 60-stall site in Queens. The announcement shows that despite the current administration's ongoing plans to reverse Biden-era climate policies, states still have considerable power in pushing the EV industry forward.
Archive of IIJA and IRA Webpages
In anticipation of the new administration, dozens of organizations have spent the past several months archiving information related to climate-related policy like IIJA and IRA. The California New Car Dealers Association released its Q4 2024 report, announcing a 12% decline in Tesla deliveries with almost 27,000 fewer EVs sold in 2024. This marks the fifth consecutive quarterly decline in registrations for Tesla, further shaking their previous dominance in the market. Tesla held 60% of the California EV market in 2023 but only held a slight majority in 2024 at 52.5%. Despite the market leader faltering, the California ZEV market share was 22% in 2024, up from 21.7% in 2023, proving interest in EVs remains strong in the Golden State.
Waymo's AVs Safer than Human Drivers
Findings from a new study indicate Waymo's autonomous driving technology is safer than vehicles driven by humans. The research evaluated liability claims from over 25 million miles driven by Waymo, with only nine property damage claims and two bodily injury claims. Human-driven vehicles over the same distance have approximately 78 property damage claims and 26 bodily injury claims. The results are even more impressive in percentage format: Waymo's autonomous fleet saw 88% fewer property damage claims and 92% less bodily injury claims. Of the few claims made, the study found Waymo vehicles had minimal responsibility in most incidents. Accredited findings like these are crucial in verifying the safety of AVs and scaling their adoption on broader scales.
