Hey family, churches around the world are beginning to celebrate the season of Advent. Advent means "arrival," and it means the start of an event or the arrival of a person. Christians refer to Advent as the four weeks leading up to Christmas, the day we celebrate the coming of Jesus on Earth. Join us tomorrow, Dec. 1, as Pastor Edwin explains more about Advent and leading us in learning about this time of hope, love, joy and peace.

Many of us have asked this question during different stages of life where we were faced with hardship or difficulty for extended periods of time. Maybe we wondered if God was even conscious of the suffering that we were going through. Because this is something we all struggle with, it’s important to learn how to deal as we walk in the new family of Jesus. So I hope to see you on Sunday, and please bring a friend. Hey family, often when we come up against something that makes us feel powerless or out of control, we focus on addressing that feeling rather than the thing that makes us feel that way. We try to kill the pain but not the sickness. What is going to end up supreme when we confront these insurmountable challenges? Is it going to be us and our own efforts, these challenges, or something else?

Join us on Sunday to receive hope and guidance. We meet at 10 a.m., 360 Schermerhorn St. This Sunday is a great opportunity to bring your kids or grandkids! Our children's ministry, IgNite Kidz, will be holding a special event in the park next door with face painting, a Bible story and more. --Edwin

Sat., Nov. 2--MARATHON EVE SERVICE! Join us for our annual service held the night before the New York City Marathon. Since it's so difficult to get around on Marathon day, we hold our service the night before. Doors open 5:30, service begins at 6.

Each of us has a primary thing that our hopes and dreams are wrapped up in. For some of us, we think that if we win the lottery, that will be the solution to everything. For others, it's if we get into a relationship, that will be the solution to everything. Or if we just had better health. Or if... There are a million "things" it might be.

In our series SUPREME, we've been arguing how the greatest thing we can give to our lives is Jesus. Of course, many people would agree. But... what would it really look like to see Christ SUPREME in every area of our lives? That's what we'll talk about this Sunday. But when the thing that is supreme in our lives is not good for us, it can cause trouble in all kinds of ways. Join us this Sunday as we continue to discover what the supreme things are in our lives--and shift our focus from the things that we've given ourselves to the Supreme One who created us.

Join us this Sunday as we start to discover what the supreme things are in our lives--and shift our focus from the things that we've given ourselves to the Supreme One who created us.

Hey family, throughout this series we've learned some truths about work. Some of us view work as gross, a necessary evil to be endured. Others view work as God--the thing that we pour ourselves into and get our identify from. The truth is, work is worship, an opportunity to praise God with the gifts he's given us and thank him for the place he's given us to use them. This week we're going to look at another aspect of work that is actually one of the most important commands that God has ever given. That command is to stop work and take a day of rest, or as the Bible calls it, sabbath. The Sabbath is a fundamental part of our lives. It's a reminder of the work that God has already done and a way to hear him amid the hustle and bustle of life.
