Bringing the next generation of tomorrows NFL stars to you today on the College2Pro.com Players Platform Show. Join host Bo Marchionte with special guest Rodney Nichols of Benedictine.
After a strong senior season, Benedictine University defensive back Rodney Nichols has been selected for the fifth annual National Bowl, a post-season all-star game consisting of student-athletes from Division II, Division III, and NAIA schools. The game will take place at 9:00 a.m. central time on Sunday, December 7 (10:00 a.m. eastern) at Ocean Bank Field in Miami, Florida on the campus of Florida International University.
A two-year starter at cornerback, Nichols was a key member of a BenU defense that led the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in pass defense (147.1 yards per game) this season. An All-NACC Second Team selection, the South Carolina native tallied 47 tackles, four tackles for loss, a forced fumble, five pass breakups, and four interceptions. Three of the four interceptions came in consecutive games, with one of those being returned 54 yards for a touchdown against Concordia University Wisconsin. In his two-year BenU career, Nichols intercepted seven passes and tallied 15 pass deflections. On top of this year's All-NACC honor, Nichols was named All-Sportsmanship by the conference last season.
