One of the most talented running backs in the nation plays for Stony Brook in the state of New York. Miguel Maysonet has produced three straight 1,000 yard seasons since he joined the Seawolves. After transferring from HofstraUniversity where Maysonet led the Pride in rushing as a freshman in 2009 with 385 yards he has continued his rise as one of the most complete running backs in college football.

 Stony Brook is currently 9-1 with their only loss coming in a closely contested contest against Syracuse losing 28-17. With one remaining Maysonet looks to continue his success in 2012 where he has been named Big South Offensive Player of the Week three times. The Riverhead, NY native is second in Championship Subdivision (FCS) averaging 165 yards per game going over 200 yards rushing in 3 of his last four games. The Seawolves are looking to finish a top the Big South Conference for the fourth time in four seasons.

Harris is a fabulous talent leaving BostonCollege as the schools all-time leading rusher with 3,735 yards, carries (786) and 100-yard games (22). Transferring to TempleHarris has picked up where he left off rushing for two 100 yard games as of 10/27/2012. Blue-collar type running back not doing any one thing tremendously well but his overall game and ability add up to a quality prospect. On the 2013 Senior Bowl Watch List and would be wonderful to see him in Mobile, AL. Boston College and Temple haven't been the most productive schools  over the last few decades in producing draft grade running backs. Take Bernard Pierce drafted in 2012 from Temple and Williams Green (2002) from Boston College are the only two running backs selected in NFL Draft since 1999.

Azusa Pacific OT Luke Marquardt

 

King Dunlap of the Philadelphia Eagles or Jeremy Trueblood of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just a few of the NFL’s super sized offensive tackles. Azusa Cougars Luke Marquardt at 6’9 and 320 pounds fits the same mold and brings a mean streak in his game and possesses excellent athleticism for a player his size.  After their 9-3 2011 season the Cougars have had their share of hard times losing their first seven games but are now riding a two game winning streak.

Between the fall out of Joe Paterno’s firing and the hiring of Penn State’s Bill O’Brien, Tom Bradley served as the Nittany Lions interim head coach. Bradley guided the PSU through three regular season games and a trip to the Ticket City Bowl in Houston, Texas. Bradley served under the most intense pressure and scrutiny that any coach may ever face due to the circumstance at Penn State last season.

Lake Forest has won more games this season (8) than in the previous three years prior winning only seven games total. The Foresters are 8-1 in the Midwest Conference and have senior quarterback Pete Scaffidi coming off his Forester Athlete of the Week (third time total) after accounting for four touchdowns in the 35-30 win over CornellCollege.

With one game left against St. Norbert (6-2) Scaffidi is just the fourth player in team history to surpass 5,000 passing yards and has already become the schools all-time leader with 54 touchdown passes and ranks third with 438 completions and fourth in passing yards with 5,099.

Central Florida LB Ray Shipman

Named 2008 Florida Mr. Basketball Ray Shipman kept his talents in state and decided to go to Florida to continue his basketball career with the Gators. Eventually the love and desire to slam dunk quarterbacks instead of basketballs was too much for him to resist and he left Florida to pursue and resume his career on the gridiron instead of hardwood. He committed to play football at UCF and had to sit out 2010 due to NCAA transfer rules prior to him playing in nine games in 2011 with two starts at OLB in his first full season playing collegiate football. In 2012 he currently ranks fourth after eights games. Shipman is a very intriguing player since Antonio Gates made it vogue to go from basketball to football with success.

KEAN COUGARS FB DANNY MENDOZA

Senior fullback Danny Mendoza from the Kean is a key piece to Cougars 5-3 season and 5-1 conference record in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). The native of Orlando, FL has two games remaining in his collegiate and has appeared in all eight games for the Cougars in 2012. Mendoza had rushed for 17 yards on three carries for one touchdown and adding eight catches for 33 yards via the pass. Don’t be surprised to see his name pop up in the Battle of Florida collegiate all-star built on the same theory as Texas vs. The Nation taking players from the state of Florida or have played in Florida to participate in the up coming senior event.
