NFL Schedule Release Day is here and I’m fully here for it. Schedule placement can make or break a season, and today I break down exactly what to look for as a fan and analyst.
My 7-point checklist for the perfect schedule:
- Bad teams early
- New coaches/QBs/OCs before November
- Proven good teams in December
- No early bye week
- Facing strong teams after they play each other
- Mostly noon kickoffs for rhythm
- At least 2 national TV games
Plus, why the NFL is oversaturating the product with too many extra games (Wednesday Thanksgiving, international slate, etc.) and how it’s hurting Sunday Ticket and fan interest — just like MLB did.
We also discuss Mike Vrabel and the Patriots opening the season at Seattle (a notoriously tough road game for visitors). The NFL isn’t protecting Vrabel — and that says something about how they view the ongoing scandal.
