👋Clubhouse, is a new audio-based social network app. The app has increased its user base by 5-to 6 times, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where it offered a new possibility to communicate during the lockdown. The trend of social audio is likely to stay as tech competitors are working on their rivaling apps.
What is so special about the Clubhouse? What are its benefits?
In sum, Clubhouse is an authentic way to interact with people and brands: The human voice is mankind’s oldest and fastest medium. Hearing people’s real voices touches us and can help build new connections faster and in a deeper way. Bloggers like Neil Patel highlight the absence of “Screen Fatigue” as an essential feature setting of Clubhouse. Unlike Facebook and Instagram, you can consume audio passively, meaning that you can still be fully engaged while driving to work and take part in meaningful discussions. Michael Stelzner from the Social Media Examiner, writes: “It’s been a long time since we’ve had this kind of energy about a new platform.”
Here is how NGOs and Nonprofits can benefit from using Clubhouse.
➡️ 1. BUILDING NEW RELATIONSHIPS
Clubhouse offers a powerful way to make new connections with supporters, media, donors, and businesses. Nonprofits can use it as an opportunity to invite people to a new relationship, where both parties benefit. Large NGOs have already built their stand-alone or individual profiles on Clubhouse. Your Clubhouse profile will be seen, found, and followed.
➡️ 2. STANDING OUT AS AN EXPERT
Clubhouse allows individuals from your organization to stand out as experts. By creating rooms on the mission you’re passionate about - or if you are promoted to speakers and moderators - you can contribute to valuable conversations, and can quickly establish yourself as an expert in the field.
➡️ 3. BUILDING BRAND AWARENESS
Regardless of what room you enter, you'll be representing your nonprofit. You'll have the opportunity to not only highlight your organization's mission but to educate about your mission and help others better understand the services and value you can offer.
➡️ 4. TESTNG NEW IDEAS
Startups use their Clubhouse community to ask for feedback on new features. Thus, it can serve as your focus group for new content ideas or outreach strategies. If you are still trying to figure out what topic to cover for your next blog post or which fundraising story to highlight, you can create a room, pitch the idea, and ask for feedback.
➡️ 5. COCREATING
Clubhouse conversations ought to be fast-paced, direct, and relevant. They offer the possibility to exchange ideas with experts from other organizations or sectors and learn from them. It is a give and take, where your contributions are rewarded with insights, new expertise, and new networks of excellence.
➡️ 6. STAYING UPDATED
Clubhouse is listening to cutting-edge knowledge and news. You can follow influential people in your field, keep tabs on your other players, and listen to your areas of expertise to keep up with current news and trends in your sector.
➡️ 7. LAUNCHING & FUNDRAISING
Is your organization about to issue a report or new fundraising initiative? Schedule a clubhouse room in advance and educate the audience about the most important points. It provides you an opportunity to orchestrate the story, bring your main points forefront, and initiate meaningful discussions with your audience and potential donors.

Marcis Skadmanis made the idea of a „World NGO Day“ a reality. The World NGO Day is celebrated annually on 27 February. This podcast covers an exclusive interview with the young Latvian-born social entrepreneur, lawyer, and philanthropist. What is this year’s #WorldNGODay about? Why is it a fantastic opportunity for NGOs to participate and get involved? Can the "for-profit" sector participate as well?

#Livebroadcasting has the momentum and potential to be the next powerful digital channel to connect with your audience. This podcast is the excerpt of a live-broadcast, where I present 7 key reasons why your nonprofit will highly benefit from going "live".
Here is, why I think Live-broadcasting is an extremely interesting format for nonprofits:
1) Live broadcasting is accessible for everybody. That means you can get on every smartphone. Nearly everybody has a Facebook account or could log into YouTube live. The smartphone is like the pocket radio or TV-Set that our parents, our grant parents bought in the fifties to be connected. The only difference is that live broadcasting brings YOU to your audience and followers. No broadcasting-station needed.
2) Then it's a question of low maintenance and costs. This "live" is made with an extra camera with some light and with a microphone. So you don't need a fancy film team that is coming to your place and filming you. The technical bandwidth to upload your video upload should not be a problem anymore. And, the resolution of a webcam just works well on the smartphone screens. Just have a camera, light, and sound and you're ready to go whenever you like.
3) Live broadcasting has the magic of being in real-time. If you are "live", the audience ready at the moment joins in to see what is going to happen right now. Your audience can interact with the questions they have. Why not using this direct connection to create a more meaningful interaction with your supporters, constituents, and donors?
4) Being interactive & authentic is at the center when defining live broadcasting: It goes along with the idea of being real-time. You can give an impression of what you care about, answer the questions, clear off doubts, bring up topics that top of mind of people. But there is more to it: If you look at my live broadcast right now, you see that I am doing my best now to reach out here now. And, you can then judge yourself. Does everything make sense to me? Is this really authentic to me? Do I trust this sender basically?
5) Live broadcasting lets you decide to integrate recorded content, and it's nothing wrong with it either. You can contribute something that is relevant and that is nice to see that is prepared in advance. Just add videos, images, and PDFs. This preparation and structure can help relieve your pressure of being "live" and can guide you within your presentation.
6) It is a new channel for creating engagement. There will come this tipping point when you have more people joining into your lives and really interact with you. I am doing digital marketing, working in digital all day long, and a lot of things that are natural for me - but not for the people outside. In my last "live", I was amazed at the questions and associations participants contributed. This engagement is highly valuable to find out how your message is understood and what your audience really wants.
7) And lastly live lets you repurpose your content. Why not going out with this broadcast where you had the best energy that I could give? A live cast here can make an attractive post on social media with a 30 to 90-second video excerpt for Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
So we are at the end of a challenging year. In challenging times, there are new opportunities. This could be live-broadcasting that brings you even closer to your constituents than you were before. And maybe you can also even reach more people than you have reached before.

Great problem solvers are made, not born. That’s what a recently published McKinsey article of Robert McLean and Charles Conn. After decades of problem-solving with leaders across all sectors the authors find: Effective leaders learn to adopt a particularly open and curious mindset and use to a systematic process for cracking even the most complicated problems. Generation Z contributes strongest to volunteering, LinkedIn study shows
The Corona pandemic has contributed to a boost in Volunteering and civil rights activity in recent months according to Linkedin. New data from the professional social network shows that its members in the United States added more than 110,000 volunteer activities to their profiles each month. This is more than twice the rate than recently.
LinkedIn’s numbers show that nonprofits could benefit from the volunteerism of „Generation Z - People younger than 25. They are the most likely to list volunteering activities. Relative to their overall share in LinkedIn, people older than 55 are least likely to list themselves up for volunteering activities.
The survey has also revealed that 61% would likely need charitable aid for the first time in their lives. The most common reasons people would need help from the Third Sector were help with housing, financial struggles/difficulties, and re-training to find new work

The numbers are still a sign that users are incredibly comfortable using mobile devices as their primary means of staying in touch with the causes they care about. However, the mobile contacts that nonprofits have are still low. According to the report, nonprofits only have 72 mobile subscribers for every 1,000 email addresses.
