On this episode of NHL Trade Talk: The Podcast, we start the show with blockbuster news: The Tampa Bay Lightning may be facing the loss of their biggest star.
According to multiple sources, including Elliotte Friedman, Nikita Kucherov has told both his teammates and the organization that he will not re-sign with Tampa Bay and would like to be traded. Reports say he's willing to keep playing until a trade can be finalized, but he's likely looking to be moved as soon as possible, and he holds a 10-team trade list for protection. Making $9.5 million this season, he's a pending UFA.
Also on the show, we talk about the latest developments surrounding Dylan Larkin and his decision to no longer play for the Detroit Red Wings. He's trying to rush a trade, and his agent said that Larkin is done with all of this. He feels he's been patient and doesn't want to wait.
Finally, we get into the Connor Hellebuyck trade. He lands in New Jersey, which might have come as a surprise to some given the comments from GM Sunny Mehta. Now what? Do the Devils have more up their sleeve?

On this week's episode of NHL Trade Talk: The Podcast, the crew breaks down the latest on Connor Hellebuyck and his ever-changing situation with the Winnipeg Jets. The latest is that the team suspended him because he won't attend training camp. Is this getting to a point where someone has to budge? And whose side are we on?
Meanwhile, Dylan Larkin was going to attend training camp for the Detroit Red Wings, but he's suddenly injured and will miss it, as newly appointed interim GM Shawn Horcoff revealed. Should we buy into the Larkin injury, or is this just incredibly awkward timing?
Finally, Chris Kreider chose the Montreal Canadiens. How big a get is this for the Habs?

This episode was all about the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Brooke and Jim are back to dive into the top picks, including Connor Bedard going to the Chicago Blackhawks, whether the Anaheim Ducks went off the board taking Leo Carlsson and what to make of Matvei Michkov falling to the Philadelphia Flyers. Did he orchestrate his way there and was it a gamble by the Flyers to take him at No. 7?
We talk about the Arizona Coyotes going off the board, the lack of trades in the first round, and some of the more emotional moments, including the consistent appreciation for former Nashville Predators' GM David Poile and the Columbus Blue Jackets making a trade so they could take Tyler Peddle.
