Whitey Gear was blackmailing Don Mason for $10,000. Whitey knew that Mason was really Jimmy Burke who was wanted for murder after being mixed up in a juvenile gang some years ago when a guard was killed. Don suffered from blackout periods when he couldn’t remember what had happened but he hadn’t had one for a while until apparently last night when he met and killed Whitey.
