Stokvels - How can South Africans fully use it to their advantage?

The Constitutional Court has declared Section 40 of Childrens' Act invalid and unconstitutional. The section that deals with the rights of the child conceived by way of artificial fertilisation, only provides for married or unmarried couples but not same-sex marriages. Prior to this ruling, the law did not provide for a situation where two women in a committed relationship conceive a child. Last year, a lesbian couple faced with this problem approached the apex court to challenge the Act. 

In a parliamentary response in June 2022, the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, revealed that between April 2021 and March 2022, girls aged 10 to 19 had almost 90 000 pregnancies.

A full bench at the Pretoria High Court found that the decision by the Minister of Home Affairs to terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit programme has been declared unlawful, unconstitutional and invalid. BlindSA and Section27 marched to various government departments in South Africa's capital, Pretoria to raise awareness about the Marrakesh Treaty, to ensure equal access to information for the blind. Blind and visually impaired people have access to less than 0-point-5 percent of published works available in braille format. This despite last year's Constitutional Court ruling which found the Copyright Act unconstitutional, for limiting access to reading materials in accessible formats for persons who are blind or visually impaired.
