JASON JARRELL returns to Night-Light to discuss Adena and Hopewell magicians and their assistants. We'll hear about the well known example from the famous Dover Mound, but the pattern was repeated in several other burials. Did the positioning of mounds have something to do with marshes and the Underwater Panther? We'll hear more about Jason's research into Adena and Hopewell cosmologies. It's a nice follow up to Dennis' discussion from last night, and maybe Sarah will say something about the billboard in Dunbar. November 14, 2018 America’s Stonehenge with Dennis Stone and host Mark Eddy
DENNIS STONE joins Mark and Barbara to discuss his property AMERICA'S STONEHENGE. Some of the earliest professionally done, radiocarbon dating put the early stages of construction of this site in New Hampshire at about 2000 BC. It fits in well with the Late Archaic period. Do the alignments suggests the Archaic peoples were more astute astronomers than previously thought? There is a pattern of measurements that indicate the use of the Megalithic Yard. Does this unit of length indicate Old World visitors, but peoples in Central America were using the same unit of measurement at the same time. Do we need to reinterpret the site as being founded by a culture from the southern hemisphere? We can't be conclusive since no human bones have been found. Tune in and listen to us try to understand this prehistoric enigma.
