Nightbird Radio

Nightbird is back! Thanks for everyone's patience - its been a crazy summer. On this episode we return with a fun conversation about trickster spirits and magical psychosis. How do we know when we are too far down the rabbit hole? How can we avoid it? What does it look like? We discuss all this and more in this episode, delving into our own experiences to shed some light on the topic and offer some perspective as we see it. We talked about divination, banishing, discernment, ramen-runes, and so much more!

Welcome back Nightbirds! On this episode of our ongoing Rune Walk series, we discuss the runes Tiwaz and Birkano, and begin our journey through the final eight runes. We of course discussed the traditional and esoteric meanings of each rune. We also discussed our own personal experiences with the runes through shamanic journeying techniques. We riffed on topics of souls, destiny, and sexuality. We discussed the Havamal and the Wild Hunt and so much more. Finally, we discussed Valkyrie Göll herself, and how she appeared for us in our journeys. Who she is, and the signs that go with her.

On this episode we continue our coverage of the Rune Walk with Algiz, Sowilo, and Valkyrie Herfjötur. Before we dive into the runes themselves, we discuss what it means to embody a spirit, or be a part of a spirit lineage or oversoul. We continue with the traditional meanings of the runes, the rune poems, what they meant for us and the gnosis we gained about these runes over the course of the month. This time we really dive deep into our journeys with this valkyrie and these runes. We also talk about names, naming, reincarnation, and their importance to this work, and so much more.

On this episode we are joined by returning guest and friend of the show Marissa Gamberutti. Marissa is a certified somatic sex educator and a magical practitioner. We talked about her new offering: Living Desire, a three month intensive of daily practice, prayer, and connection focused on pleasure. We talked about the ancestors of pleasure, somatics for spirit contact and apprehension, listening to the body to discover what we want, the power of Yes and No for enforcing boundaries and empowering our magic, the revolutionary power of connecting with our bodies, and so much more. It's always a great conversation when Marissa is on, and I hope you enjoy the episode and check out her website and her substack:

Welcome back Nightbirds! This is another one that I expect we might get some flack for but, again, I think it's an important conversation especially with the current astrology going into the foreseeable future. I've been grifted before, and it caused me to make some unwise decisions that led to a lot of material difficulty. Is it good magic to be hoodwinked? Let's dive into this topic!

What is a grifter? Is it a learning experience to be tricked? How can we open our minds and experience new realities without falling for the schemes of those who would part us with our hard earned coin? Angela, Lindsay, and I discuss all these topics, and more. I hope you enjoy the conversation.

Welcome back Nightbirds! On this episode we continue our Rune Walk Saga, covering the runes Eihwaz, Perthro, and Valkyrie Hlökk. Lindsay and I are rejoined by Luis Galindo and Matt Hughes. With these mysterious runes, we enter into some of the divisive discussions about interpretation. What is the true meaning of Perthro - dice cup or cosmic womb? Is Yggdrasil a Yew tree? We discuss these questions and many more. We talk about the connection of specific gods to specific runes. Is that a hard and fast rule? Finally, we discussed our experiences in journey and trance with the Valkyrie Hlökk - who left a unique and lasting impression on us.

Welcome back Nightbirds! On this episode, we discuss the mythopoetics of conspiracy. When is this type of thinking best suited? When is it less skillful? When to wax poetic, and when to take action. Can we do both? How can we navigate the post-truth madness of Time Wave Zero with our sanity (and our material conditions) not only intact, but flourishing?

This is another tough one that we think needs to be discussed at this time. I hope you enjoy the conversation.

Welcome back Nightbirds! On this episode I was rejoined by Jack Grayle along with first time guest Klara Wolfe. Lindsay Starke and Luis Galindo rejoined as cohosts. This was a fantastic conversation. We talked about Jack's play Sigrun and the Mis and the beautiful photographs from the book in which Klara embodies Sigrun. We talked about the Northern mysteries, necromancy, the PGM, understanding the perils and pitfalls of walking the magical path, embracing the struggles of fleshly incarnation with grit and good humor, the mental, physical, constitutional ways that spirits change us as we walk with them, what it means to embody a spirit, Valkyries, einherjar, and so much more!

I had so much fun recording this one that I didn't want it to end. I hope you get as much out of it as I did.

Welcome back nightbirds! On this episode, I'm rejoined by Lindsay Starke and Luis Galindo as we discuss the next two runes in our Rune Walk series. Join us in this year long ritual of initiation into the Elder Futhark runes and the thirteen Valkyries of the Grimnismal at www.patreon.com/nightbirdradio

On this episode, we discussed the first two runes of the second group of eight - or aett. These runes are Hagalaz (hail) and Naudhiz (need). We talked about the personal trials that came along with spending two weeks with each of these runes, as well as the triumphs and understanding that came along with these struggles, We talked about the Norns, Gullveig, and the archetype of the witch. We talked about destruction and rebirth, need versus desire and how exploring these concepts can help us in our magical journey. We talked more about Norse cosmology as we see it, and the mysteries of time and space that present themselves when one journeys into these potent wells of gnosis that are the runes. Finally, we talked about the Valkyries themselves, who they are, and our experience with the valkyrie Hildr.

I had a great time talking with Lindsay and Luis, and I hope you enjoy the show!
