I get by with a little help from my...spouse. Let's talk about how a little bit of help goes a long way.
We seem to be reluctant to ask for help, and yet we get really upset when our spouse doesn’t help us. What’s up with that? Why is it so hard to ask our spouse and others to help us out sometimes? We think we should do it all but then get mad when no one does anything. Definitely a discussion worth checking out. Join Todd and Jennifer Stanley as we discuss all these things.
We can learn on our own, but learning from others is quicker, easier, and a lot less messy. In this episode we talk about how to identify and ask potential mentors to help you be successful. We'll also tackle how what we focus on can breed discontentment in our marriages, why our discontentment is usually based on a false narrative, and how to change the story.
Sometimes we assign meaning to things, and sometimes that meaning isn't at all what our spouse is saying. How can we overcome those misunderstandings and move toward health?
Why is it so hard to give compliments? Why is it so easy to call out the negatives? How can we change it? Let's get into it.
Homework: Find something to compliment your spouse on every day for a week.
How we give and receive love is different. Gary Chapman's classic book The 5 Love Languages talks about how we experience love differently. We talk about how Jennifer and I are different, how we've learned to know the other one's language, and how we receive love from each other.
Let's talk about how we can learn to speak each other's language.
