There's a habit almost nobody knows they have. Judging a decision by how it landed.
I had a call this afternoon with one of our investors. A good one. He brought up a project that didn't work out.
The thesis was right. The building was right.
The market moved in a way nobody could have predicted.
But the deal didn't work. And he was right to say so.
The landing is not the verdict. The landing is just the landing.
I came back from a building this afternoon. I've been coming back to the same one for six years. When I bought it, I had three kids. I have four now.
The building hasn't changed much. I have.
In this open conversation, the one everything else gets measured against. Not money. The ability to leave money alone.
A question I sit with late at night : what am I doing today that I won't be around to see finished ?
