BAYTOWN - Roughly around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020, Baytown Fire Companies responded to the 1200 Block of Missouri Street at the Marina Club Apartments, in reference to a structure fire.

The complainant was evacuating they told dispatch "no flames were seen but had some smoke." When engine two arrive on the scene, nothing was showing, and disregarded all other fire companies that were on the firebox.

No injuries were reported.

(SCANNER AUDIO) First, a full firebox was dispatched of a car of fire near a building. When the first engine company arrived on location, the engine company found a car fire near the building. The engine company disregarded the additional responding companies. Engine Company 4 handled the call!

Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously votes on the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, 12-0, as committee Democrats boycotted the roll call. The full Senate is expected to hold a final vote on Barrett's nomination on Monday.

Senate Democrats plan to boycott Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett’s Judiciary Committee vote Thursday in an act of protest, according to two Democratic aides.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote at 1 p.m. to advance Barrett’s nomination to the floor, with the full Senate set to hold a final vote on her nomination Monday. 

A portion of the City of Baytown’s Goose Creek Trail will be temporarily closed in the vicinity of the Animal Services and Adoption Shelter, at 705 N. Robert Lanier Drive due to the start of construction of the new facility.

The trail located in this area will be closed from Monday October 19, 2020 through late spring 2021.  The decision to close this part of the trail was made for safety purposes, due to heavy equipment and major construction activity requiring a high measure of precaution.

The City is requesting that this area be avoided during this time.  Trail users are encouraged to seek an alternate trail route and enjoy the other segments of trail that remain open.
