Where is the observer in the universe? In the fourth part of their discussion, Jim Hartle and Bernard Carr discuss Jim Hartle’s no-boundary proposal. They explain how the proposal accounts for the quantum state of the universe as a whole, and how we find observers like us in a wholly quantum world.
