January 6, 2021: insurgents attempt a coup and lay siege to the U.S. Capitol Building. We discuss this second attack in United States history on the Capitol, where it's not the British doing the assaulting, but U.S. citizens. A few things:
115 House Republicans and 14 Senate Republicans (though the latter number dropped precipitously post-coup attempt) who opposed the electoral count certifying Joseph Biden as President are culpable as instigators for insurrection. They need to be held accountable. Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) has introduced legislation seeking the expulsion of 115 House Republicans based on oath violations.
Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff win their Georgia special elections to bring the Senate under Democrat control. Historic election, especially for Reverend Warnock as the first Black Senator from Georgia.
Joy Reid reads the law enforcement response to the Capitol siege for filth. Watch here.

Be safe, be vigilant, wear a mask, wash your hands, and remember this day. Remember that Rome burned from within, that Camelot fell from within, and that when we talk of ourselves as the city upon the hill, we must recall the eyes upon us, and the world in which we live in.
