The Department of Education has told schools that they should eliminate gender-based activities in order to be more inclusive. As a result, one school district in New York cancelled its annual “Father-Daughter Dance”, a move that upset parents and students alike. While the school says it will hold a different event that will be open to all students and their caregivers, some say that the special bond between father and daughter is something that deserves to be celebrated. Is this another case of the PC Police gone wild? Or should we be more conscious of making sure students and families feel welcome at all school events?
