The D.O.C. helped pen iconic, grounding breaking, raw tales of violence and anger and “street knowledge” for N.W.A. But his own debut was something completely different, with a barrage of word play and charisma that few in 1989 could match. And with Dre helming the boards there was no way to deny its greatness.
