It is faith that saves, so the content of our faith is no small matter. In the past, some Christians have rejected government altogether as ungodly and worldly, but Romans 13 describes government as a divinely-ordained institution. Rulers are God's "servants" and even "ministers." This is all the more surprising when considering the depravity of Rome's emperors in those days. Like it or not, the Bible teaches that we are to "be subject" to even the most despicable rulers.
