If we think about it, most of our lives are governed by fear. The things we do, or don’t do, say or don’t say. Opportunities lost or taken. So it is not surprising that particularly in today’s day and age, we have a name for practically every fear - real or imagined. Let’s talk about phobias.
Fun Fact:
Phobos was the god of fear in Greek mythology. The story goes that Phobos was a frightening and formidable god—so much so that warriors would paint his picture on their shields to give their enemies a real fright and to get them to run away in terror. So a phobic reaction resembles someone terrified of something.
Quote:
“Anything you fear is a shackle to your soul. It is a phobia that tethers and blinds your ability to see and comprehend your life directions, making you feel discouraged and hopeless in times of danger. ” ― Michael Bassey Johnson

Social media and big tech have changed and continue to change our lives for better and for worse. We are living through the adolescent phase of this paradigm shift and figuring out how we should be using these technologies along the way. As we do, it is changing our behaviors and interactions with each other. Some make it, others don’t.

What is it about us that makes us want to divide ourselves into “us” and “them”? Inevitably one group becomes the minority, whether we are talking about nations, sex, race or gender. In this episode we parlay on this question and a few others. We also talk about farts.

Welcome to the final episode of season 1! Thank you to all of you who have stuck around and enjoyed our myriad of topics and witty banter. You are our ‘originals’ and therefore our very special bunch. We will see you back here for Season 2 in August!
In this episode we look at Scientology. How it started, who started it, what are some of their beliefs and what are they getting up to internationally. We also ask ourselves, WTF Xenu?!
Fun Fact:
The FBI investigated Scientology for human trafficking. The church has been accused of enslaving members and there have been allegations that it is impossible to leave the church once you’ve joined. Investigations have also looked into how members are controlled and coerced into staying.

Have you ever given more than just a passing thought, to how many people go missing in the world in any given year? Wonder how many of those are found and/or what were the circumstances of some of the disappearances? What about those unfortunate souls who are snatched up and sold into slavery? Today we go into it and share some pretty interesting “facts”.
Happy Birthday Frank!!
Facts:
Human trafficking earns global profits of over $150 billion per year. $99 billion comes from commercial sexual exploitation. Globally an estimated 71% of enslaved people are women and girls. White men and boys account for 29%.
