• Essential Oils are plant material that is distilled and concentrated into a liquid form
• Main benefits of Essential Oils with good research backing them are lavender for reducing anxiety, peppermint for irritable bowel syndrome and anti-itch treatment, and tea tree oil for helping with acne and fungal infections
• If a claim sounds too good to be true, it usually is - sometimes Essential Oils just smell nice and there's benefit in that in and of itself
• Hana's top three pieces of advice? 

1. 1. Don't go crazy - start with 3-5 Essential Oils and see what they do for you. Good options to try are lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, citrus (orange), and pick one other one just for fun
   2. Try inhalation of Essential Oils first; this is the safest way to consume them
   3. If you really want to dive into the Essential Oils world, buy one of the books recommended by the Tisserand Institute to understand the ins and outs before moving beyond inhalation

• When buying Essential Oils from anywhere, transparency is key and typically a reputable company will tell you 1) actual botanic names on the bottle 2) country of origin and 3) how it was distilled (probably on their website)
• If purchasing from a retailer, check the sell through date on the bottle, as shelf life can be an issue. Also, never rely on the testers for the smell, as this is not a great way to preserve the oil.
• For a fun way to experiment with Essential Oils, try Shanna's suggestion of using a diffuser and picking oils to mix together. Shanna's favorite? Cinnamon, Clove & Orange for a holiday scent!
