Cecil Taylor is continued to be discussed in this episode. We are discussing the 1966 period of the great piano player. What he used to play in 1969, (the period he recorded the album “Conquistador”) is somehow a dedication to Duke Ellington. He used to create complex and beautiful timbers not only with different kind of combinations of the  instruments in the ensemble but also his voice.

Historical context of his style  is exhibited and discussed. His influences including Duke Ellington was mentioned.

Gunther Schuller’s review of Cecil Taylor’s early albums was quoted from A.B.Spellman’s beautiful book “Four Jazz Lives”. The tools that the critics had prior to the music of Cecil Taylor was discussed and the inadequacy of the vocabulary to describe the music of him stroke the critics a lot and hence the aggressive attitude he came across with.

An interview of Alan Silva was quoted about free jazz pioneers.

The 1966 album “Student Studies” was mentioned and the importance of it, is exhibited.
