D — DREAM MACHINE

A chamber of gears and quiet machinery.

It was impossibly large, extending into shadow in every direction.

No light source was visible, yet everything glowed from within, like a dream remembering itself.

The machines moved without sound.

Cogs rotated through one another, as if ignoring the laws of space.

Wheels spun inside wheels.

Strands of shimmering fiber pulsed like veins.

Then I noticed the centerpiece:

A core, like a heart made from starlight and sleep.

I approached.

When my hand touched the surface of the core, my vision blurred. I saw brief flashes of dreams I had never had — forests made of shifting symbols, oceans of voices, cities inside clouds.

The Dream Machine spoke inside my head:

“Your memories are scattered.

Gather the artifacts.

Restore the Whole.”

Then it pushed me out with a pulse of warm light.

My journey continued.
