We discuss white allyship in terms of achieving equal rights for Black people. We talk about how to deal with fatigue in championing Black people's rights, how to talk to your family in a way that leads to progress, and how white people can help in different ways.

This one was a real honor! Activists, legal scholars, politicians, and overall great humans; Hawk and Chivona embody the revolutionary thought process and goals that the Black Lives Matter movement strives for. Hawk and Chivona started BLM of Greater New York from their mother's kitchen table, and to get a snapshot into where they are now was really inspiring! 

Franqi's first guest she wanted to get on the show was Hawk Newsome, and to have the opportunity to speak with him and Chivona was a treat to say the least. Give it a listen!

We had Oye Car and Dan Blednick on this episode to talk about giving kids the opportunity to succeed in the competitive NYC educational space through a holistic approach - everything from providing sports equipment, to meeting with counselors and parents to make sure people going through the TEAK program (Starting at 6th grade!) are given every opportunity to excel, and reach their full potential!

Franqi and Stephen chatted with Carina Cruz, Ferni Cruz, and Jomar Lopez from Breakthrough New York to discuss their mentorship program that takes kids in underserved communities and offers guidance for 10 years as they make their way through the competitive landscape that is the New York schooling system. 

Breakthrough is working wonders to address societal education access, and you should be learned up on all of it!

Dr. Theo and Jerome are two incredible souls, educators and change makers from America Needs You, a group who supports first generation college students by offering mentors and a network to not only succeed in higher education, but to capitalize on that education once they graduate. We talk about real solutions to inequity and how to take understanding "it's not what you know, but who you know" and building an environment for people who have grown up with less privilege, and less access to social capital to excel.

Supporting the community of Selma is full of incredibly hard and rewarding work. We spoke to Chad McEachern of the Edmundite Missions in Selma about learning from a community before coming up with ways to help. They're building up the Black farming communities, and providing everything from food to educational support to the city, and they're doing it in a way we hope to be replicated throughout the country!

Franqi had just got out of the hospital and Stephen had just lost a friend to brain cancer the day before, so it ended up being the perfect time to speak to Pat Colleluori from the HEADstrong Foundation. 

The episode is a bit more somber than the ones before it, but we had an uplifting conversation about how Pat and his brother Nicholas started HEADstrong in response to seeing the hardships families endure when finding treatment for their loved ones who have been diagnosed with cancer. Pat's got a great outlook on life and a lot to teach about channeling grief in a socially beneficial way.
