12th Exams Are Hanging Fire With Covid Dance In Second Wave
Students of CBSE XII are undergoing a trial of exams or no exams during the Covid pandemic. For the last 6 months and more, they are speculating about it.
Almost everyone is ready to give them advice regarding what to do and how to do about these final exams with no actual end to this at the end of the tunnel.
Some have even approached the Courts for intervention. What is their fault? How can a student be forced to sit in a room for more than 14-16 months with no certain relief?
Political parties are also divided about this Issue. Some are involved in pure politics. No end is visible to this problem faced by the XII class Students.
These young students of last step of schooling are desperate and angry with the government and the system for this disgusting situation imposed upon them. India is facing a second wave of this global health issue with no respite in site with inadequate vaccine supplies.
"There must be no exams", snapped my students.
I replied in the same tone that there must no certificate without exams or Covid-Time-Schooling certificates written over there.
In reality, the students are right in refusing to sit in the exams. But what will happen to the quality of their achievements this year.
No vaccines, no exams is also a new slogan for many students.
But the road ahead is not smooth.
The sudden surge in cases has disrupted the government machinery at every level causing havoc to the education system everywhere.
The central government, many state governments, judiciary, and even educationists are divided about what to do with these already-delayed exams during this second wave of this pandemic.
During pandemic years in 2020 as well as in 2021, an unknown number of students didn't have access to the online classes. So it's quite simple and understandable that access to education was not equitable this session for the students. How can the exams give proper results for all appearing students?
Half-baked education has been imparted digitally to the unwilling Students without any human touch.
It seems the final exams will be a travesty of justice to them.
In sum, due to many conditionalities imposed on the students by these circumstances, the only solution is to promote them based on their mid-term exams, practical activities without any further delay. This delay is causing them extra stress, extra work, and lack of interest in everything.
"Justice delayed is justice denied" seems appropriate in this case if no practical solution is found on an urgent basis.
