Gudrun Victoria Gotved - aka The Völva from Ribe / Vølven fra Ribe - became active in the Viking community and reenactment in 1996, and since she is both knowledgeable in Asatru and well-versed in the written sources, and interested in alternative medicine and herbs, it quickly became her "role" to be a völva. She is also an author and has written two books in Danish; "Asatro - Nordisk Spiritualitet" and "Asatro – de gamle guder i moderne tider". She works at Ribe Vikinge Centre as a communicator, in charge of the pagan rituals and works there with the runes as well as privately. She also works with the Galðr (the magical songs) as a traditional völva, and she offers coaching and advice using the runes in person or online.

In this interview, we discuss asatro, blot sacrifice, working with the runes, the völva, galðr versus plant medicine, seiðr rituals, the Glavendrup Rune Stone and Trelleborg Viking Fortress, and rediscovered forgotten knowledge from the pre-Christian traditions of Scandinavia.

Today I have Dr. Saida Désilets guesting the podcast. She is an author, dancer and a teacher of women empowerment and sexuality. Saida shares how a violent rape and a close encounter with death changed her life, and let her on her path of teaching. She shares her shamanic ceremonies growing up in Canada with her native roots, as well as her shamanic experiences as an adult: Plant medicine, a pure life force current experience and sensory deprivation therapy: The Darkness Retreat. Saida runs retreats in the bushes of Africa, the caves in Hawaii and Greece where she helps women detox Western living and returning to a pre-lingual knowing - a natural human state of mind where communicating with plants and animals is possible. We talk about Saida's book "Desire", Eros and hijacked desires, how truth has many facets, what is a natural life, how to un-tame yourself, fall in love with yourself, your body and your life, and to choose a pleasure based practice to find joy in life.
