Julie D is back with Episode 2 of Jabbering With Julie, and there is plenty to cover around town.
The Best of Northeast Ohio launches Monday, Oct. 5. It is a place to vote for your favorite local businesses, and Nordonia area businesses are invited to be on the map.
Macedonia Commons has more changes. Famous Footwear is closing. Miniso has opened in the former Maurice's space. Buffalo Wild Wings is expected to open soon as a smaller, go location. Power Up Studio has taken over the former Yoga Six space. Several storefronts are also still available.
Julie also shares updates on the recent water main breaks around Macedonia and the vacant properties at Highland Road and Route 8. Macedonia's planning commission denied 7-Eleven's request for a training center at the former BP station. The first steps toward demolishing the Key Inn Hotel are also underway.
Mark your calendar for two events. The Macedonia Fire and Police Safety Forces event is Oct. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Police and Fire Building. Ghouls Night Out is Oct. 23 at So So Artsy in Solon, where guests can carve or paint a pumpkin to take home.
Julie also announces Northeast Ohio Market Junction, a new website that helps shoppers find local crafters and artists. It will also list craft fairs across the region. Crafters are needed for consignment at River Run Tree Farm, which opens on Black Friday, Nov. 27.
In other news, Jim Vroost received the Nordonia Lifetime Achievement Award before last Friday's football game. Julie also shares the new Party Line app for submitting news tips and marks 11 years of Nordonia Hills News on Oct. 1.
