  • Music Director Lecce-Chong Makes Mark in Santa Rosa, Despite Short Season – January 17, 2019
Conducting without a score is a high wire act – especially when the piece at hand is an hour-long Mahler Symphony.
This past weekend, Francesco Lecce-Chong, the new music director of the Santa Rosa Symphony, led the orchestra in works by Mozart, Mahler, and Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu. Before rehearsal last week, he sat down on stage at Weill Hall with KRCB News Director Steve Mencher. They talked about the orchestra, and about the audience for classical music – which has long thought to be aging.
Later this year, watch for a TV feature on the new conductor on KRCB TV 22 and KPJK San Mateo. More at norcalpublicmedia.org.
