Sam Wells was born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada and grew up in England in a village between Bath and Bristol, about 100 miles west of London. He graduated from Merton College, Oxford, with an M.A. in Modern History, from Edinburgh University with a B.D. in Systematic Theology, and from Durham University with a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics.

Amy’s lifelong interest in pharmacology began at an early age, and has continued throughout her academic and professional life. With a pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she worked in both a clinical setting and a retail pharmacy in Alaska before returning home to North Carolina to run her father’s practice.

Mr. Barcott did his undergraduate work at UNC-Chapel Hill. He did a tour of duty in the U. S. Marines then went back to Harvard for a Masters degree. He is co-founder of Carolina for Kibera,

Mr. Briggs is a native North Carolinian and has been the head of the NC Arboretum since 1987. He previously served as the head of the Nebraska statewide arboretum.

Mr. Rogers attended Emory University. He holds a doctorate degree from University of Kentucky. Duke Energy, one of the largest power companies in the United States.

Mr. Anthony holds a BA from Wake Forest University and a MSLS from UNC Chapel Hill. He has been the Curator of the NC Collection since 1994. He has also served as a librarian for the collection and an archivist for the State Archives.

Imam Abdullah completed his basic training and education in his native Turkey. He is the founder and executive board member of the Muslim Chaplains Association and a member of the National Association of College and University Chaplains. At Hartford Seminary in Connecticut, he was the associate director of the Islamic Chaplaincy Program & Interfaith Relations, as well as an adjunct faculty member.

After being fired from his job as district manager of a restaurant chain and with only $500 to his name, Moore, then 28, opened the first Andy’s restaurant in 1992 from the ashes of a defunct restaurant at the local mall .He decided to meet the needs of others before his own in what’s known as the philosophy of "servant leadership."
