Janet Alkire, Chairwoman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, delivers an address to state awmakers in North Dakota on January 7, 2025.

Alkire spoke about the priorities of the five tribal nations with homelands in North Dakota: the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation, the Spirit Lake Nation, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians.

The Tribal-State Relationship Address is presented every year to the North Dakota Legislature. Leaders of the five tribes alternate in delivering the speech.
