It is the year 2023. Can you believe it? The end of a year often causes us to reflect and possibly lament on the previous year. We also often look forward to a new year because it is a clean slate. An opportunity to make some changes in our lives to make the new year better than the last. We might make changes… we might not. It might be better… it might not. Regardless of what lies ahead for all of us we can have total confidence in the fact that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. With Him this new year will be great!

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” The night Jesus arrived was indeed a night like no other. A night that changed the universe. God so Loved the World! Oh the WONDER of God’s LOVE.

As you continue to make your way toward celebrating Jesus’ birth this Christmas take time to ponder how the path of your life has been unfolding. As you make your way through the many ups and downs on the road that has brought you where you are today – don’t forget – “The journey was always leading you to Jesus.” May you experience the wonder of joy as you realize the road you have been traveling intersects with the Savior who was born for YOU. Ahhh, the WONDER of JOY!

Part of the Wonder of Christmas is how God chose to give needed hope to His people. For years and years before Jesus ever fulfilled the hundreds of prophecies that pointed to His initial arrival that first Christmas, God had hope in His heart for His people. The arrival of that centuries-old, promised hope happened under a star-filled sky in a manger on the outskirts of Bethlehem at just the right time. The WONDER of HOPE!

Why would God send His Son to be born in a messy barn? It certainly was no place for a king, but Jesus was no ordinary king. Today we focus on our Savior’s birth and see what it looks like to live like Jesus. We are reminded that Jesus came to such a messy place because He was coming to save messy people. As we begin the Christmas season let’s WONDER of His BIRTH.

Gratitude is about being thankful for what you do have rather than being upset about what you don’t have. Gratitude is an essential ingredient on the journey to living the abundant life Jesus promises. Gratitude is seen beautifully through our response to the free gift of Salvation through Jesus or Lord. When life gets hard it can be difficult to choose to be grateful. But in Christ we can have peace and gratitude even when things get tough.
