While sharing what has been going on with his family in West Africa, Greg shows us that God is with us wherever we go. He will ask us to go into some dangerous situations, but by believing that He has it all under control, we can overcome the danger before us.

Our God is faithful in everything. We can have confidence in Him that He will do all that we promises. However, we are still commanded to be obedient to God's word and submit to Him in prayer.

We are absolutely dependent upon God initiating mercy. It is through this grace that we are saved from our sin, but it also leads us into suffering in this world. God, however, promises to comfort us if we stay true to His word and rely on Him.

Paul is writing this passage to a hurting church that is being bombarded with false teachings and harmful deception. However, God has chosen these people to be saved and to be sanctified by the Spirit.

In this pastoral prayer, we are urged to seek God in building His kingdom through the church. This happens when we are strengthened by His grace to live "in a manner worthy of our calling".

There will be a day where every person will stand before God to be judged. For some it will be a time of condemnation, but for others it will be a time of comfort. The difference is the gospel of Christ.

How we live, as individuals and as a church, tells the world around us a lot about who we are and what we believe. Do the things we do as a church turn "the world upside down" (Acts 17:6) much like they did in Thessolanica?
