In Les Miserables we see the transforming power of grace. Grace not only forgives our past, it transforms our lives.

Les Miserables is a story of mercy versus condemnation, love versus legalism and hope versus fear. It is a story of Grace.

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

(Matthew 5:9)

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

(Matthew 5:6)

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled."

All of Jesus' outrageous statements reach their climax with his call to follow because the only way to follow him is to surrender.

Jesus' call for us to love our enemies may sound great in theory but does it work in the real world? Isn't it a bit idealistic?

To a world obsessed with advancement and achievement Jesus says, true greatness is found in serving others.

(Luke 6:38, 12:15; 2 Cor 9:6-11)

"Give and it shall be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

(Matthew 5:1-4)

There is a richness of having and a richness of being. Jesus taught that true richnes is richness of being and the way to find it is through your poverty.
