We live in a society where technology is developing at lightning speed. What once seemed impossible, is now in our homes and in our hands. As technology develops, some people reject it and stay away at all costs, while others adopt new technology without thinking. Is all this new technology bad? Should Christians avoid it? In this message we’ll explore God’s vision for how we should use technology.

In a world fighting for our attention, our thoughts, desires, and questions are shaped by the algorithms of the technology we consume. What you consume shapes who you become. So how do we use technology without it controlling us and deforming us? That’s what we’ll explore in week 1 of our new series “Connected or Controlled.”

Christians believe they know the answer to the biggest problem in the world, and yet most of the world does not know the answer. How will that problem be solved? We have to share the answer. And yet many who claim to follow Jesus, are not sure how to share the good news about Jesus with others. In the last week of our series “Me and My Big Mouth”, we’ll talk about how we can share our faith clearly and confidently to a world that needs the answer.

When we are down in the dumps, overwhelmed by our failures, or discouraged about our future, a word of encouragement can bring life. One word of belief, affirmation, hope, forgiveness, kindness, or truth, can change the direction of our lives. But we don’t just want to share empty platitudes of positivity that ignore reality. In week 4 of our series, “Me and My Big Mouth”, we will learn from the Scriptures about how we can speak words of life; words that bless and do not curse.

One angry word, one thoughtless statement, one insensitive post, can leave devastating consequences. Marriages unravel, kids cut off parents, careers are altered, friendships end, and hearts are crushed. In week 3 of our series, “Me and My Big Mouth”, we’ll look at the power of our words for evil, and the hope for us when in our struggle to contain them.

Before words ever come out of our mouths, they flow through our minds. Everyday our thoughts are flooded with stories about who we are and who others are. We rehearse our failures, we fixate on others flaws, we tell ourselves about all of the bad things that we think will happen. The words that fill our minds often hurt our relationships, fill us with anxiety, and leave us feeling hopeless. But God’s Word’s give us a better way to rethink our own.

Have you ever said something that you later regretted? Have they damaged or destroyed a relationship? If we know our words are going to hurt, why do we have such a hard time holding our tongue? Why do we say the things we do? In this message we’ll explore the source of our words, and how we can change them for the better.

Psalm 1 shows us that our lives are always moving in one of two directions — towards life, or towards destruction – and the evidence is in the fruit we are producing.

What do you do when the pain is so deep you can’t sleep, or speak, or eat? What do you do when prayer only makes you feel worse? What do you do when all you have for God is questions?
