In this exposition from Luke 5, we see Jesus calling Levi the tax collector to follow him. This is the beauty of the gospel. Jesus comes to where we are and leads us to an abundant life. He came to call the sick soul to repentance.

It's always a good thing to get back to the basics! Well, this week Pastor Scott takes us through the basics of baptism out of Luke 3 where we see, clearly, the truths around baptism.

Jesus is rejected in His hometown because His message of good news to the poor, release to the captive, sight to the blind, and freedom for the oppressed fell on spiritually deaf ears. Jesus' gospel is only good to those who need it badly.

John the Baptist is the hinge between two covenants. A wild man in the wilderness preaching a new message. He is the one that the prophets spoke of. The one preparing the way of the Lord.

Jesus was fully aware of the conflict that lay ahead of him. He was full of the Spirit and led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan but he didn't go unprepared. In this teaching, may we be encouraged and reminded that we must be prepared for the fiery darts of the enemy.

If there was ever a ministry to emulate it would be John the Baptist's. His mindset was simple and effective: Prepare the way and then get out of the way. It's all about Jesus being at the center.

A continuation through the gospel of Luke where we see Jesus as a young 12 year old boy sitting in the temple amongst teachers. This is a very significant moment in Jesus' life and bears much weight on the gospel message.

The encounter between the shepherds and the angel of the Lord gives us a clear example of the gospel's work in the life of lowly sinners. Peace comes from being found. The heavenly invitation is for us to come see the Savior of the world who came to us first.

The tension we feel between God’s call to obedience and our ongoing weakness is resolved not by trying harder, but by trusting Christ more deeply. Our obedience is not a means to earn God’s favor, but a joyful response empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Mary's Magnificat is an example of what our praise should be. Understanding, intellect, and focus all working together to magnify the Lord for the greatest thing He ever did for us - save us.
