Benediction

Intro

What is a benediction?

A. THE GOD WHO BLESSES (v. 20).

1) God of peace.

2) God of the blood covenant.

3) God of resurrection.

4) The great Shepherd of the sheep; Jesus our Lord.

B. THE BLESSINGS REQUESTED (v. 21).

1) Equipping us to do His will.

2) Working in us what is pleasing to Him.

3) Through Jesus Christ to whom be the glory forever, Amen.

Conclusion

For discussion: What is the eternal covenant?   Why is it important to know that it is God who equips us and not we ourselves?  What are things that please the Lord?  Why does glory belong to Jesus Christ forever and ever?

Bearing His Reproach

A. THE BELIEVER’S STRENGTH (v. 9).

1) Don’t be carried away by varied and strange teachings.

1) We have an altar  (v. 10).

Discussion: Why is it difficult to go outside the camp?  Are there areas in your life in which you need to prayerfully seek God’s grace to leave?  Have you ever had to bear His reproach?  How did you respond?  How does a focus on the city to come affect our going outside the camp?

The Unchanging Christ

Mount Zion: A Better Mountain

A. MT. SINAI BRINGS FEAR AND JUDGMENT (12:18-21).
