Psalm 123 | Ben Potloff | Christians, along with the psalmist, declare, "so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he has mercy upon us." How long will the Lord wait to return and make right what we have broken? As God's people have always been foreigners in this world, God has also been faithful to deliver them. We set our gaze on the Lord as we wait for his mercy.

In this week's class, we look at the different ways God has created and gifted us and how that plays into our personal "Evangelism Style."

In our first class we look at what is means to be a "Contagious Christian." We explore the benefits of it, and what it's key components are.

Psalm 122 | Max Janusch | For King David, there is joy and gladness when it comes to gathering with Israel to worship the Lord. Psalm 122 focuses on where this worship happens, namely, in Jerusalem. God's chosen city images his chosen people in its importance, purpose, and unity. Here, we see that Christians are called to seek the good of Christ's Church.

Psalm 121 | Ben Potloff | "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord" (Psalm 121:1-2a). This psalm comes not in the form of a prayer but as a testimony and declaration of who God is and what he does. Be encouraged! Psalm 120:1-7 | Ben Potloff | For the Christian, this life is a pilgrimage, and this world is not our home. Psalm 120 is the prayer of one surrounded by opposition and calling out to God. This psalm reveals that the homesick find their hope in the Lord.

Colossians 3:16-17 | Max Janusch | Why do we sing when we gather? Is corporate singing just a great time filler or a convenient buffer for the sermon? In Colossians 3:16-17, the Apostle Paul focuses on the importance of musical worship as the God-given means by which Christians instruct and warn each other with truth, and he applies this same principle to the entire Christian life. Here, we see that the Christian life sings gratitude to God.

Acts 8:26-40 | Ben Potloff | The book of Acts describes the establishment of Christ's Church by the Spirit-empowered Apostles. Acts 8 contains the amazing story of an Ethiopian eunuch being saved by God as Philip boldly preaches the gospel of Jesus from a passage written by the prophet Isaiah. Here, we see that God’s people are empowered by God’s Spirit to proclaim God’s Word.

1 Timothy 3:8-13 | Ben Potloff | Following his list of elder qualifications, Paul shares a similar list of qualifications for church deacons. As elders are called to be servant leaders, deacons are called to be leading servants. Jesus himself has modeled this kind of humility and service. Here, we see that deacons are qualified men & women who serve the church.

1 Timothy 3:1-7 | Ben Potloff | The Church is not a man-made institution; neither is it a system that has been corrupted beyond redemption. The Church is the people of God, organized in Christ-exalting local communities under the leadership of qualified men. In 1 Timothy 3, Paul writes to Timothy about the qualifications for these men who would aspire to lead, serve, and teach believers in local churches. Here, we see an incredible picture of the kind of men whom God has entrusted with leading his churches.
