We see a clear example after David is crowned king and establishes Jerusalem, the city of David. David desired to dwell in the house of the Lord, which at that time meant bringing the Arc of the Covenant to Jerusalem. In 1 Samuel 18 we read the continuing story of David.  As David’s popularity grew, so too did Saul’s Jealousy.  We read in this chapter of the friendship between Jonathan and David, and Jonathan’s faith and acceptance and David would be the next king of Israel.  We also read of David’s failure to trust God in his love life, by marrying Saul’s daughter, which will lead to greater problems in David’s future.

Youth Pastor Gary Jones continues our 10 week series on the Life of David.

In 1 Samuel 17 we read the epic story of the duel between David and the Philistine champion Goliath.  Though Goliath was mighty, David triumphed over him because he had faith that God would be with him in the midst of the battle.  Likewise, God calls us to step out in faith and trust, placing our lives fully into His care.

David was considered Israel’s greatest King.  He was a great poet, a mighty warrior, and a strong ruler.  He was also a sinner, who failed many times in his life.  But above all of these things, David was a man after God’s heart.  Today, Pastor Josh provides some background to the life of David, and shows us what it means to have a Heart after God.

Lead Pastor Josh Carstensen concludes a vision series for our ministry year called "Something To Say!" Our fifth ask at Northwest Hills is to make Jesus known. God brings justice against anyone who disobeys Him. And the truth is that there's a problem: death is coming to everyone because everyone has disobeyed God. However, God provided a solution by sending His son, Jesus, to the cross, and He extends his mercy to anyone who understands and embraces the cross. So, our job is to share that truth - that God is both just and merciful - with others.
