The Columbia Generating Station is the Northwest’s only nuclear power plant. And for the past five days, it hasn’t been running. Now, it’s scheduled to come back online today [Tuesday, February 17].

Kelly Rae [RAY], a spokesperson with Energy Northwest, says the nuclear power plant has been offline. That’s because a faulty electrical filter tripped both of the reactor’s recirculation water pumps. Those pumps influence power levels.

With winter weather clobbering the region, homeless service providers are opening emergency shelters to keep people warm and dry.
