Across the United States, and here in the Northwest, horses are on lockdown to help prevent the further spread of equine [EE-quine] herpesvirus [her-PEEZ-virus]. So far, about 30 horses have come down with some form of the disease after a Texas show earlier this month [November]. There are two cases in Washington, so far. Diane Thomas is a horse riding drill team coach out of Tacoma. She says with the outbreak, riding centers are having to sterilize the barns after each show.
