Seattle-based photographer Kiliii Yueyan [KEY-lee you-YEN*] has a new book out.

It’s a global exploration of 'traditional ecological knowledge.'

With striking photos, the book shows native communities all around the world ... who have kept their cultures alive ... through *conservation.*

Essays from those places explain how.

The book is called ‘Guardians of Life: Indigenous Knowledge, Indigenous Science and Restoring the Planet.’

A crew made up of firefighters from Lincoln, Linn and Tillamook counties is headed to the East Evans Creek Fire near Medford.

Ash trees in southern Oregon are at risk of infestation from the emerald ash borer. As JPR’s Peyton Gast explains, the tree-killing beetles have already infested five counties in northern Oregon and are making their way south.
