A Honduras-born woman who has been living in Portland for decades has been detained near the Canadian border for the past two weeks.

The Bellingham City Council is taking action to curb excessive rental fees……A new law taking effect August 1st sets limits on common charges like application and late fees……it also prohibits landlords from charging fees for in-unit appliances and payment processing.

Bellingham City Council member Jace Cotton introduced the legislation.

The Northwest Seaport Alliance has announced a much-awaited program to bring all-electric semi-trucks to the region. They’ll be primarily used for “drayage” – the short-haul routes that bring cargo from ports to nearby warehouses and distribution terminals.

After years of work, the Northwest Seaport Alliance has announced its first program to deploy zero-emissions trucks. The focus is on cleaning up transport for cargo from port terminals to warehouses. KNKX environment reporter Bellamy Pailthorp has the story.
