  • UK Sensation Nina Baker MTV's Best New Runner Up
With her debut album "Quite Frankley" we welcome NINA BAKER!
Influenced by the smooth tones of Ella Fitzgerald & Nina Simone, the technical brilliance of Lang-Lang and the creativity of Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Amy Winehouse, Nina Baker is a fusion of blues, pop, skiffle, rock, folk, jazz, country and classical music all interwoven with hallmark piano riffs, emotive lyrics and a unique vocal quality.
Nina was hand-picked by BBC Introducing to attend their 2013 Master Class and came runner-up in MTV's Brand New for 2013 unsigned competition, beating over 500 acts to reach the final and impressing the MTV select panel who stated that "Nina brought something really unique to the competition, a mixture of light and dark makes her songs stand out”.
The core of the album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, under the stewardship of Nick Brine (The Darkness, Stone Roses, Bruce Springsteen). Sessions at Red Kite Studios in Llandovery with Martin Levan (Iron Maiden, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Sarah Brightman), brass composer Andrew Griffiths in Swansea and with the Ebbw Vale Male Voice Choir only adds to the heavy Welsh influence.
The other side of the album is distinctly a London affair. From The Kings Gospel Choir to the inspirational John Themis (Boy George, Kylie Minogue, Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John) to string arrangements by Andy Bell and Sam Sweeney, the album will be one of the last made at The Church Studios in Crouch End.
Mixed by Tristan Ivemy (Frank Turner, The Holloways, Billy Lockett) and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios, the album titled “Quite Frankly” (dedicated to her late grandfather Frank Baker) is a big-scale, uncompromising production. CD is due for digital release on 6th January 2014.

  • Lake Street Dive Coolest Band Celebs Love Today
    NWP welcomes LAKE STREET DIVE!
FAN: I was in the audience tonight at the Colbert Report and during the Q & A asked: "What's on your Ipad/What are you listening to these days?" His reply? "Lake Street Dive" - Just wanted to let you know!
Celebs like Katie Curic and Francis Mcdormand recently tweeted out her love for this jazz band. Today you get to hear them!
Lake Street Dive makes the most of pop music virtues: solid, evocative song craft; propulsive grooves; and Price’s disarming, forthright vocals. However, it’s a personal strain of pop that is refracted through the band members’ rich backgrounds: a sinewy Motown bass line is reborn with woody heft on Kearney’s upright, Calabrese’s drumming mixes timekeeping with more adventurous jazz-inflected outbursts, McDuck’s nimble trumpet is an unexpectedly warm counterpoint to Price’s singing. It all makes for a sound with familiar roots, but with a slant that is entirely their own. Lake Street Dive’s eventual artistic breakthrough came not without struggle, and still surprises original instigator Mike “McDuck”

  • Bradford Loomis Out of the Mountains to Nashville Stage
NWP welcomes Bradford Loomis.  Bradford's new album "Into the Great Unknown" is symbolic of his new journey from Seattle to Nashville, to pursue his musical dream. This music taps into raw Americanism in us.
Had he lived one hundred and fifty years ago, Bradford Loomis may have been riding rail cars out west or sailing down the Mississippi on a paddle boat. Or maybe he would have claimed his stake in the flat lands of the Midwest. Perhaps he would have plied his hand on a ranch in Texas.
Born in the Northwest in more modern times, Bradford has lived to tell a different, but no less exciting, tale. Through years of choir, band and orchestra he discovered a powerful kinship to the songs and stories of those bygone eras as they helped show him a meaningful way to tell his story.
Bradford Loomis marries grit and melody to dig to the roots of American folklore and speak of the raw reality of the human condition with passion. His stories span several lifetimes of relatable emotions; bitterness & loss, deep longing & regret, enduring hope & love, elation & joy.
Bradford’s influences include The Swell Season, EmmyLou Harris, T-Bone Burnett, and Johnny Cash.

  • Rusty Anderson Paul McCartney's #1 Band Leader
NWP welcomes lead guitarist to Sir Paul McCartney, Rusty Anderson!
I talk with Rusty just days before he heads to Japan with Paul McCartney on their world tour.
In 2001, Anderson, got a call from producers Mo Jackson and David Kahne to play and sing on Sir Paul McCartney's record Driving Rain; this became the birth of the Paul McCartney Band.
After finishing the record and performing at The Concert for New York City, the band went on the road for a critically acclaimed tour, playing well over 100 shows in the US, Japan, Mexico and Europe, including those at the Roman Colosseum, Live 8 UK and Red Square in Moscow. Following the success of this tour four DVDs were released, all featuring Anderson on guitar: Back in the U.S., Back in the World, Paul McCartney in Red Square and The Space Within US. In addition to the studio album Driving Rain, Anderson would go on to play guitar on McCartney's Chaos and Creation in the Backyard and, in addition to guitar work, would also contribute vocals to the 2007 release, Memory Almost Full.[1] He also took part in Good Evening New York City and Good Evening Europe.
